Community Development
The Jefferson County Department of Department is in charge of administering the Community Development Block Grant Program. The CDBG Program is Federal money given to the Commonwealth which can be used for a variety of projects; including but not limited to infrastructure projects for storm sewers, sewage lines, and water lines. The County makes these funds available to authorities/agencies and non-entitlement municipalities. Each project must meet the eligibility and fundability requirements of the Program. In addition, there is one entitlement community (Punxsutawney Borough) in the County, which receives a separate allocation of funding each year.
The Department administers these funds on behalf of Punxsutawney. The Department also administers funding for additional federal, state, and local programs on an ongoing basis for County projects.
