Jefferson County is protected by five local municipal departments, two state police stations and the county sheriff’s department, maintaining law and order within the county. Each of the municipal departments are dispatched through the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Services, with the exception of Punxsutawney Borough which also maintains their own police dispatchers. All 9-1-1 calls are processed at the county PSAP.
