  • 911 Dispatcher

    The objective of this position is to obtain information accurately and properly process the request to appropriate individuals.

    Applicants MUST have their High School Diploma or an equivalent. Applicants MUST successfully complete the training requirements offered and requested by Jefferson County 911 and EMB Program (or equivalent) as soon as the trainings are offered.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, categorizing emergency service requests, prioritizing calls, dispatching the appropriate emergency service units, and monitoring and updating the status, providing additional support as requested.

  • Adult Probation Officer

    The objective of this position is to counsel and/or supervise a caseload of offenders and probationers, attempting to successfully reintegrate them into the community; the objective is also to assist the courts with probation situations and to enforce the court’s policies and procedures. Duties vary according to the specific assignments of the individual Probation Officer.

    Applicants MUST have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field. Applicants also MUST complete 40 hours of in-service training per year and have a valid PA driver’s license. 3-4 years of human services related experience required in probation/parole, corrections, police, or other related field, or any acceptable combination of equivalent training and/or education.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing social histories and conducting interviews regarding offenders, preparing reports on the outcome of the investigations, providing counseling and other supportive services, maintaining contact and scheduling meetings, monitoring probationers’ activities, conducting random drug/alcohol testing, conducting research on whereabouts of missing probationers, assisting with arrests, and participating in court hearings.

  • Director of Tourism

    The objective of this position is to develop and implement a tourism marketing strategy/branding identity for the county.

    Applicants MUST have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related field. Graphic design experience PREFERRED. The ability to show examples of previous marketing work also PREFERRED.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing/implementing a tourism marketing strategy for the county, developing an annual marketing budget, creating/managing all tourism advertising, managing all social media accounts, coordinating marketing initiatives with partner organizations, and annually evaluating marketing strategy, adjusting as needed. May serve on local, regional, and state tourism and marketing associations as assigned by the county.

  • Prothonotary Clerk

    The objective of this position is to perform specialized departmental clerical duties and responsibilities within the department.

    Applicants MUST have their High School Diploma or an equivalent, plus some business/clerical and computer training. Applicants MUST have 1-2 years work experience in an office setting, court system preferred.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the general public, updating information to the computer database, docketing and/or expunging cases when required, maintaining inventory of supplies, assisting in collecting monies due to the department, and compiling data within the department for completion of reports.
