Veterans Service Office
The Jefferson County Veterans Service Office assists Veterans and eligible dependents in applying for federal, state and county benefits. We advocate for Veterans and assist with all aspects of applying for benefits. Â Additionally, we may refer Veterans and dependents to other federal, state, county agencies and organizations that might further assist them in solving their problems or answering their questions.
Our office provides free transportation to VA medical facilities for Veterans, through a county DAV program. Our vehicle is driven by volunteer drivers and rides are coordinated by our office. Please note, that if a volunteer driver cannot be arranged, the veteran will need to make other arrangements.Â
To ensure we can provide you with the best service, appointments are required for all matters, including claims, paperwork reviews, and any other business. Walk-ins are not recommended, as we cannot guarantee immediate assistance due to scheduled appointments with other veterans and ongoing office responsibilities.
Making an appointment ensures that a Veteran Service Officer will be available to meet with you and helps minimize wait times.

- Burial and Headstone allowances for the county Veterans.
- Application for Burial Benefits for Deceased Veteran or Deceased Veterans Spouse/Application for Headstone Expenses Benefits for Deceased Veteran
